A motorcyclist died and a pedestrian was seriously injured in two separate motorcycle accidents in St. Petersburg on June 5th. The incidents occurred within ten minutes of each other.
The first accident, which proved fatal, took place near house number 42 on Rustaveli Street. A 55-year-old Renault driver, turning from a secondary road, allegedly failed to yield to a Honda motorcycle traveling in the same direction.
The motorcyclist died at the scene of the Rustaveli Street accident. Authorities are working to identify the deceased.
Ten minutes later, at 12:35 near house number 1 on Iskra Avenue, a second accident occurred. A 49-year-old man riding a BMW motorcycle struck a 44-year-old woman who was reportedly crossing the road against a red light.
Eyewitness accounts suggest the motorcycle was traveling at a low speed, but the woman sustained a head injury upon falling. She has been hospitalized in serious condition.
Police are currently investigating both accidents to determine the full circumstances.
