Moscow graduates who took the Unified State Exam (ЕГЭ) in Biology on June 5th are expressing concerns about the exam’s difficulty. Over 10,600 graduates in Moscow participated in the exam.
Students particularly struggled with the tasks in the second part of the exam, which required extended answers. One student claimed that a particular question was so challenging that even her biology teacher was unfamiliar with it.
The biology exam, lasting 3 hours and 55 minutes, consisted of 28 questions. The exam tested students on various topics, including general biology, genetics, ecology, botany, anatomy, and zoology. A minimum score of 36 points is required to pass.
Some students felt unprepared, with one hoping to get into Sechenov Medical University, noting that the practice exam was easier. She now worries she won’t achieve a high enough score for a state-funded place. Another student observed a trend toward increased difficulty in this year’s exams.
In addition to the exam content, one graduate raised concerns about the exam’s organization. She stated that students were only permitted to use the restroom individually, a change from previous exams. She did note the examiners were friendly.
The next Unified State Exams scheduled are computer science on June 10th and 11th and the oral part of a foreign language. Biology results will be accessible by June 20th via the mos.ru portal or at their schools.
The main examination period concludes on July 4th, with an additional period scheduled from September 4th to 23rd.
