Russian President Vladimir Putin has expanded social support for children of military personnel who are missing or captured during military operations in Ukraine and Syria. The amended decree, published on May 30, adjusts the terms for monthly payments to these children.
A key change involves extending the payment period for children of missing military personnel. Previously limited to six months, payments will now continue for the entire duration of the service member’s absence.
Furthermore, the decree addresses children residing outside of Russia. The monthly payment for these children will be set at the level of the subsistence minimum as defined within the Russian Federation.
The original decree establishing these payments was signed by President Putin at the end of 2024. The recent amendments refine and broaden the scope of this social support program.
