Launch of the New High-Speed Catamaran “Fort Obruchev” for St. Petersburg-Kronstadt Route

A new high-speed catamaran named “Fort Obruchev” is set to join the water route connecting St. Petersburg’s city center, Peterhof, and the “Island of Forts” park in Kronstadt. The ship, launched on May 30, will become part of the “Neva Travel” shipping company’s fleet.

The “Kotlin” project catamaran, the fifth of six vessels, can accommodate up to 197 passengers and reach speeds of up to 26 knots (approximately 50 km/h). Four other ships of the same series, “Fort Kronslot,” “Fort Peter I,” “Fort Alexander I,” and “Fort Totleben,” are already in operation on this route.

“Neva Travel” anticipates that the “Fort Obruchev” will begin serving passengers in the 2025 navigation season. The vessel will undergo completion work, sea trials, and necessary documentation procedures before its official launch.

The shipping company also mentioned the potential to increase the number of high-speed catamaran trips between St. Petersburg and Kronstadt to 14 per day during peak travel periods.

The water transport system will link key tourist destinations in Kronstadt, including the “Island of Forts,” Fort Konstantin, and Petrovsky Park.
