“Peace to the World” Slogans Painted in St. Petersburg May Lead to Vandalism Case

Authorities in St. Petersburg are investigating the appearance of the Soviet-era slogan “Peace to the World” painted in multiple locations throughout the city, potentially leading to a criminal case of vandalism. Police are currently searching for the individuals responsible for defacing embankments and bridges with the unauthorized inscriptions.

The investigation began with the discovery of the slogan on the Voskresenskaya embankment, prompting the registration of a case in the Central district. Subsequent collaboration with Mostotrest revealed eight additional locations where the slogan had been painted.

The slogan was found on various embankments, including Vyborgskaya, Ushakovskaya, Arsenalnaya, Voskresenskaya, and Fontanka River embankments. It was also inscribed on the Liteyny and Bolsheokhtinsky bridges.

Police have documented all identified locations with photographs and are actively seeking those involved in the unauthorized painting of the slogans.
