A monument commemorating the iconic freight tram scene from Alexei Balabanov’s film “Brother” is set to be erected in Yekaterinburg. The sculpture, chosen from 58 works submitted by 47 applicants, will be located near the Palace of Youth on Lenin Avenue. This location holds significance as it is close to the house where the renowned Ural film director resided and the school he attended.

The design is inspired by the freight tram that Danila Bagrov, the film’s protagonist, used to escape pursuers on Vasilyevsky Island in St. Petersburg. The monument aims to bring a piece of the atmosphere from Balabanov’s acclaimed movie “Brother” to Yekaterinburg.

Ruslan Gabdrakhmanov, Director of the Department of Architecture of the city administration, announced the selection of the winning design. The public will be able to view the tram with Danila within a year. The project is expected to be completed in one year.
