Danil Shargan, an instructor at a private sports center in Novosibirsk, is facing trial for allegedly torturing children during training sessions. He is accused of systematically abusing his pupils over several months.

Shargan is charged under Article 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (torture). Authorities allege that between November 2023 and March 2024, Shargan, who operated a private sports center, beat children with wooden sticks and other objects when dissatisfied with their behavior.

According to the prosecutor’s office, Shargan inflicted blows on the children’s heads and bodies, causing physical pain and mental suffering. The Investigative Committee has identified the accused as a 41-year-old man.

Two pupils are confirmed to have been victims of the abuse. Despite the accusations, Shargan has denied any wrongdoing.

The criminal case has been transferred to the Berdsk City Court of the Novosibirsk Region for adjudication.
