New Procedure for Preventive Medical Examinations of Minors to be Introduced in Russia

Russia will introduce a new procedure for preventive medical examinations of minors, with a focus on reproductive health. According to an order from the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, children aged six and then annually from the age of 13 will undergo reproductive health examinations. The order is set to come into force on September 1, 2025.

The announcement was made by Minister of Health Mikhail Murashko on May 30 during a speech at the Dmitry Rogachev National Medical Research Center for Pediatric Hematology, Oncology and Immunology.

The updated list of examinations will also include several other measures aimed at early detection of potential health issues. These include cholesterol testing using test strips and calculation of body mass index, with any deviations recorded on a chart.

Furthermore, children at one and a half years old will undergo additional mental development screening that involves parental testing. Children identified as being in risk groups will be scheduled for appointments with a neurologist.

The overall goal of these measures is to facilitate the early detection of possible disorders and ensure the timely provision of necessary medical care to minors.
