A criminal case has been initiated following the drowning of a 13-year-old boy in the Ob River in the Tomsk region on June 3rd. The case, concerning causing death by negligence, is under investigation.
The incident took place in the evening of June 3rd near the city of Kolpashevo. The boy was reportedly at the city pier with a friend, unsupervised by adults, when he drowned.
Divers located the child’s body in the Ob River. According to the prosecutor’s office, no bodily injuries were found on the body. The city prosecutor’s office had launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the drowning, and divers began searching for the body.
The criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (causing death by negligence). This article addresses causing death through negligent actions.
It was reported that a separate incident occurred earlier in Novosibirsk, where a 14-year-old teenager drowned near Arena Park.
