An investigation is underway in Novosibirsk following reports of water pollution in the “Yugo-Zapadny” lake. Residents observed unusual spots and foam on the water’s surface, prompting concern and the involvement of local authorities.

The Novosibirsk Mayor’s office confirmed that an investigation has been initiated to determine the source and nature of the pollution.

Samples of surface water have been collected from the lake for analysis.

According to a resident, Anna, an unknown substance was dumped into the “Yugo-Zapadny” lake, causing garbage and foam to accumulate on the surface.

During an on-site inspection, officials noted the presence of blue-green foam in the water body.

Prior to this incident, foam of unknown origin was also discovered in the Cherbuzy River in the Akademgorodok area, raising further environmental concerns in the region.
