Mushroom pickers in the Leningrad region are reporting a bountiful harvest of chanterelle mushrooms and blueberries. The “Mushrooms and Mushroom Pickers SPb” community is filled with photos showcasing the orange chanterelles and increasingly, purple blueberries.
Blueberries are plentiful and ripe, described as large, sweet, and abundant, with some pickers gathering a kilogram or more. Lingonberries are beginning to turn red, and cloudberries and strawberries can still be found in some areas.
While chanterelles are widespread in pine forests, many are drying out due to the heat. Those sheltered in moss are faring better.
The forests are relatively free of insects in sunny areas, with mosquitoes concentrated in the shade of mixed groves. Dry conditions prevail in the pine forests.
The weather forecast for the coming weekend indicates cooler temperatures and the possibility of rain.
