The Roizman Charitable Foundation in Yekaterinburg is closing after years of assisting sick children and their families. The closure comes after the regional Ministry of Justice insisted on its liquidation in April.
Yevgeny Roizman reflected on the foundation’s nearly ten years of operation, highlighting its efficiency and impact. He emphasized that the foundation, with a small team of seven people, demonstrated that fundraising for children’s needs is always possible, regardless of the amount needed.
Roizman pointed out that the foundation identified gaps in legislation and state support, stepping in to provide assistance where the government system fell short. He suggested that the foundation’s work may have also pushed state bodies to address issues they were previously unaware of.
He also mentioned the foundation’s involvement in establishing one of the best hospices in the country. Roizman expressed pride in the public-private partnership that made the hospice possible, noting the community’s willingness to support good causes.
Looking ahead, Roizman stated his immediate priority is to avoid imprisonment. He remains confident in his ability to mobilize support for important causes, emphasizing the strong sense of community in Yekaterinburg.
While acknowledging the emotional impact of the foundation’s closure, Roizman affirmed his commitment to the city and its people. Following the closure, the foundation’s employees are awaiting a court decision on their appeal, scheduled for August 5.
