The brown bear hunting season in the Novosibirsk region commenced on August 1, with the Ministry of Natural Resources prepared to issue over 300 hunting quotas. Hunters can obtain permits to harvest 338 bears, paying a tax of 3,000 rubles per animal.
According to the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Novosibirsk region, the region is home to an estimated 1,372 brown bears. The largest population resides in the Kolyvansky district, with 239 bears, while the Iskitimsky and Barabinsky districts have the fewest, with only 6 bears each.
Typically, hunters utilize only 25-30% of the available quotas annually. This year, 84 quotas have already been issued.
The hunting season is divided into two periods: August 1 to December 31 in 2025, and March 21 to June 10 in 2026.
Earlier this year, on April 29, a bear was sighted in the Kochenevsky district, leading the Ministry of Natural Resources to authorize its shooting.
