Telegram experienced a widespread outage on the evening of July 31, impacting users across multiple countries. Reports flooded Downdetector, indicating connectivity issues and login problems.
The disruptions affected users in the UK, USA, Germany, and Russia, among other locations. Users reported difficulties connecting to the server, logging into the messenger, and receiving notifications.
In Russia, users specifically noted issues with delayed message delivery, slow media loading, and failures in both the mobile application and website.
The outage coincided with a recent Telegram update that introduced several new features. These include global search for public posts, the ability to combine stories into albums, gift additions to collections, and an updated mini-application for bot management.
The update also introduced a profile rating system based on the volume of successful transactions conducted using “Stars,” Telegram’s internal currency.
