Vladislav Tyulpanov is considering joining the United Russia party in St. Petersburg, following a dispute over his membership with the Chechen branch. He stated that representatives from the Chechen branch had not contacted him regarding the controversy.
According to Tyulpanov, the Chechen branch contacted him after a scandal involving social media videos showing him bypassing traffic jams with a traffic police escort. He claims he was threatened with expulsion at that time, but the situation did not escalate beyond discussions.
Tyulpanov refutes the claim that he forged a party ticket, calling the accusation “complete nonsense.” He questions why the Chechen branch did not immediately deny his membership if it was untrue, as he says his membership has been publicly known since spring.
Tyulpanov’s mother, Natalya Tyulpanova, described the situation as “mysterious” and incomprehensible. She said that the family learned about the situation from the press. She also expressed doubt that her son’s documents would be accepted given the current circumstances.
Tyulpanov mentioned that he was told an order came from Moscow, when he inquired about the reasons for his potential expulsion. He identified an assistant to Senator Suleiman Geremeev as the source of this information.
Tyulpanov said he is prepared to resign from the party if his membership is unwanted. He also expressed his desire to be involved in the party’s youth organization, “Young Guard.” He also stated that he is ready to submit his documents in St. Petersburg and publicly go through the process of joining the party if supported by Alexander Belsky of the St. Petersburg branch.
A video recently surfaced on Telegram showing Tyulpanov using thieves’ jargon to send greetings to someone. He claims the video was recorded two and a half years ago at the request of a social media follower and calls its publication a provocation.
