Yekaterinburg residents will receive corrected utility bills after a massive error by “Spetsavtobaza” led to incorrect charges for 65,000 apartments. The company erroneously added extra registered residents to apartment accounts, resulting in inflated garbage disposal fees.

Acting Governor Denis Pasler has publicly criticized the Yekaterinburg city head for not addressing the issue with sufficient urgency. He emphasized the need for a clear plan to inform residents about the recalculation process.

“Spetsavtobaza” has initiated a large-scale recalculation of the incorrect utility payments. This process began on July 30th and will continue through August 2nd.

New, corrected receipts are scheduled to be printed and delivered to residents between August 7th and August 10th.

Residents who have already paid the incorrect amount do not need to take any action. The overpayment will be automatically credited to their future utility bills.

The company attributed the error to incorrect registers provided by “official government bodies.” Many apartment owners who switched to direct contracts with “Spetsavtobaza” received bills reflecting an inflated number of registered residents.
