Man sentenced to 12 years for murder in Nizhny Tagil bar

A 43-year-old man, Vladimir Arantsev, has been sentenced to 12 years in a strict regime colony for the murder of a man in a Nizhny Tagil bar. The Sverdlovsk Oblast courts confirmed the sentence after Arantsev was found guilty of the crime.

The incident occurred at the “Continent” bar in front of other patrons and staff. The victim, identified as Dmitry by acquaintances, later died in the hospital from his injuries.

Witnesses described the swift and unexpected nature of the attack. After the victim fell, bleeding, an ambulance was called, but medical personnel were unable to save him. Arantsev and his female companion reportedly left the scene calmly and were apprehended by police shortly thereafter.

Arantsev is a repeat offender with a history of serious crimes, having served approximately 20 years in prison. He had been released just days before the murder.

Video footage of the event shows Arantsev, his companion, and the victim at a table. Arantsev is seen striking the victim before producing a large knife and repeatedly stabbing him. After the attack, the couple gathered their belongings, and Arantsev kicked the wounded man before leaving. His companion took unfinished alcohol from the table as they departed.

Local residents have described the bar as having a questionable reputation, noting that incidents such as robberies and assaults occur frequently.
