Yuri Chudnovets, the Deputy Mayor of Berdsk for Construction, is facing potential dismissal due to his bankruptcy status. The Berdsk prosecutor’s office has requested a review to determine if Chudnovets meets the requirements for his position following his bankruptcy declaration in April.

Chudnovets stated that he believes his bankruptcy does not disqualify him from his role as Deputy Mayor, as he operates under the instructions and power of attorney of the city head.

The prosecutor’s office of the Novosibirsk region has been contacted for comment on the situation.

Chudnovets has served as Deputy Mayor since April of last year. His bankruptcy proceedings concluded in April of this year, with the initial lawsuit filed due to debts of 1.8 million rubles owed to microfinance organizations.

A separate and unrelated criminal case has also been opened against another official of the Novosibirsk mayor’s office.
