A major traffic jam, stretching nearly 13 kilometers, has paralyzed the R-255 “Siberia” highway in the Moshkovsky district of the Novosibirsk region following a multi-vehicle collision.
The accident, which occurred at the 76th kilometer of the highway, resulted in injuries to five people and significant damage to multiple vehicles. The preliminary investigation indicates that a bus driver crossed into the oncoming lane, colliding with a truck before subsequently crashing into two additional cars.
Eyewitness accounts describe a scene of significant damage and ongoing emergency response efforts. One driver reported being stuck in traffic for over an hour, observing a blue bus with extensive front-end damage at the accident site.
Authorities have established alternating one-way traffic at the scene to manage the congestion while emergency services attend to the injured and clear the wreckage. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes or expect substantial delays.
This incident follows a separate accident the previous day on the left bank of Novosibirsk, where a 12-year-old girl sustained injuries.
