A 23-year-old unemployed resident of Kanonersky Island has been detained in connection with a robbery that occurred at the “Gallery” shopping center in St. Petersburg. The incident took place on July 30th at approximately 2:00 PM.

A 38-year-old businesswoman from the Leningrad region was attacked on the first floor of the shopping center. According to reports, the woman was sprayed with an irritant, causing a burning sensation in her eyes.

The assailant then attempted to steal her bag, which was valued at 30,000 rubles, and a package containing 500,000 rubles in cash. A passerby intervened, preventing the suspect from completing the theft.

The victim resisted, resulting in her being dragged along the asphalt. Police apprehended the suspect near house 30 on Ligovsky Prospekt within an hour of the incident.

A criminal case for robbery has been initiated, and the suspect is currently in custody awaiting a decision on pre-trial restrictions. The investigation is ongoing.
