A series of earthquakes struck off the coast of Kamchatka and the Kuril Islands, triggering concern in the region.

The Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences reported that eight earthquakes, ranging in magnitude from 4.5 to 6.7, were recorded off the coast of Kamchatka within one hour.

Separately, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 occurred off the coast of the Northern Kuril Islands, according to RIA Novosti, citing the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station.

The epicenter of the 6.0 magnitude quake was located 241 kilometers southeast of Severo-Kurilsk on Paramushir Island, at a depth of 41 kilometers.

In Severo-Kurilsk, the seismic shock was felt with a force of up to five points.

Authorities have stated that there is currently no tsunami threat associated with these earthquakes.

Following the initial earthquake, seismologists recorded approximately a thousand aftershocks in Kamchatka.

The region experienced a powerful earthquake the previous day, which was described as the strongest since 1952. That earthquake had a magnitude of 8.7 and caused destruction and casualties.
