St. Petersburg is bracing for a brief respite from the recent heat as an atmospheric front is expected to bring short-term rains and thunderstorms on July 31st. According to Mikhail Leus, a leading specialist at the PHOBOS center, the approaching weather system will slightly limit daytime warming in the city.

The air temperature is forecasted to range between +28…+30 degrees Celsius in St. Petersburg, and +26…+31 degrees Celsius in the Leningrad region. An east wind will blow at 3-8 meters per second.

The atmospheric pressure will decrease slightly to 757 mm Hg, which is below the normal level.

Looking ahead, the hot period is expected to gradually subside, with temperatures predicted to be +24…+26 degrees Celsius on Saturday.
