Two gymnasts have been detained in Moscow following a violent altercation with police officers at a children’s birthday party. The incident has led to a criminal case against the sisters, Albina and Angela Osinovskaya, for allegedly using violence against representatives of the authorities.

The confrontation took place on July 17th at the Aviapark shopping center in Moscow, where the Osinovskaya sisters were hosting a birthday celebration for Angela’s daughter in the children’s area. The sisters now face imprisonment for up to five years.

According to reports, the conflict began when the group decided to smoke inside the shopping center. The administrator of the children’s center then called the police. When officers arrived and requested that the group accompany them to the station, the situation escalated into a heated argument.

Surveillance footage shows one of the officers knocking down a friend of the sisters, prompting Angela Osinovskaya to engage in a physical confrontation with the officer, striking him in the face. Albina Osinovskaya then joined the fight, attacking the officer with a bouquet of flowers. Children, including Angela’s daughter, witnessed the unfolding events.

The sisters are former members of the Ukrainian national rhythmic gymnastics team.
