Farewell Ceremony for Director Yuri Kara to be Held on July 22nd

A farewell ceremony for Yuri Kara, the Soviet and Russian director who passed away at the age of 70, will be held on July 22nd at the Central Clinical Hospital No. 1.

The ceremony is scheduled to begin around 11:00 AM. Following the farewell, Yuri Kara will be buried at the Troyekurovskoye Cemetery on Tuesday.

Kara’s career included several notable and widely discussed films. His diploma work, “Tomorrow Was the War,” based on the novel by Boris Vasilyev, gained significant recognition. Other prominent works include “Thieves in Law,” an action film based on stories by Fazil Iskander, and “Belshazzar’s Feasts, or Night with Stalin,” which was even screened in the US Congress.

His film “The Master and Margarita,” filmed in 1993, featured a star-studded cast including Viktor Rakov, Anastasia Vertinskaya, Valentin Gaft, Mikhail Ulyanov, and Alexander Filippenko. However, due to conflicts with producers and claims from the heirs, the film was not released until 2011.
