Major Repairs Scheduled for Nevsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg in August

Major repairs on Nevsky Prospekt in St. Petersburg are scheduled to take place throughout August, prompting a series of road closures and public transport adjustments. The Committee for the Development of Transport Infrastructure announced the schedule on July 30, detailing the various stages of the project.

The repairs will be carried out in stages from August 13 to 27, involving temporary traffic cessation in different sections of the avenue. This phased approach aims to expedite the repair process while minimizing disruptions for residents and visitors.

Prior to the main repair phase, preparatory work will occur on Dvortsovy Proezd from August 4 to 8, and tram tracks at the intersection of Nevsky and Liteyny Prospekts will be updated from August 6 to 12. Dvortsovy Proezd repairs will involve lane restrictions and overnight closures. The tram track repairs will result in roadway narrowing while maintaining traffic flow on 1-3 lanes.

The schedule for the Nevsky Prospekt closures is as follows: August 13-14, from Moika Embankment to Sadovaya Street; August 15-16, from Admiralteysky Prospekt to Sadovaya Street; August 17, from Admiralteysky Prospekt to the Fontanka Embankment, including the intersection with Sadovaya; August 18-20, from Admiralteysky Prospekt to Liteyny Prospekt, except for the intersections with Sadovaya and the Fontanka Embankment; August 21-22, from Sadovaya Street to Vosstaniya Square, excluding the intersection with Liteyny Prospekt; August 23, from the Fontanka Embankment to Vosstaniya Square, including the intersection with Liteyny; August 24-27, from Liteyny Prospekt to Vosstaniya Square.

To mitigate inconvenience, additional public transport stops will be organized, and a dedicated lane will be established for public transport on Gorokhovaya Street from Admiralteysky Prospekt to Malaya Morskaya Street. Traffic light operation will be adjusted, and parking will be prohibited on detour routes.

From August 6 to 12, buses and trolleybuses will continue operating along their existing routes. From August 13 to 27, these vehicles will follow detour routes. Additionally, the number of trains on the “green” metro line will be increased from August 11. The transport committee will provide further announcements regarding specific changes to public transport routes.

Concurrently with the road repairs, Vodokanal of St. Petersburg will replace engineering communications on Nevsky Prospekt. Six manholes are already being replaced, and work on the remaining ones will be synchronized with the road repair stages.
