Moscow experienced a sudden and heavy downpour amidst thirty-degree heat, impacting various districts of the city and surrounding areas. The Moscow Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations issued a warning that the rains could continue in some locations until 10 PM.
The downpour primarily affected central and eastern districts of Moscow, as well as the Balashikha area in the Moscow region, which was also hit by a thunderstorm. Residents shared videos capturing the intensity of the rainfall in areas such as Ivanovskoye and Novogireevo.
Social media reports also indicated heavy rainfall in Maryino, located in the southwest of the capital. The Ministry of Emergency Situations cautioned that short-term rains accompanied by thunderstorms and wind gusts of up to 15 meters per second are anticipated to persist in certain areas of Moscow until 10 PM.
Earlier, a weather forecaster provided an outlook for the weather in Moscow during the first weekend of August. The city had previously experienced even more intense downpours in mid-July, which resulted in the flooding of subway tracks.
