Tenth “Music of the World” Ethnic Festival to be Held at Sheremetyev Palace

The tenth annual “Music of the World” ethnic festival is scheduled for August 3rd in the Parade Court of the Sheremetyev Palace. The festival promises a celebration of ethno-jazz, fusion, and folk musical instruments.

The event will feature performances by several prominent groups, including the St. Petersburg-based band “Otava Yo,” known for their infectious songs like “Yablochko” and “Sumetskaya.” Also headlining is “Fathers and Sons,” a project led by folklorist Sergei Starostin, with Vladimir Volkov on double bass. The lineup includes Acid Hacid, a collective led by Andrei “Andromedyc” Antonenko, specializing in Russian, Gypsy, Balkan, and Jewish music.

The festival’s program suggests a rich display of oriental influences. Singer Anna Gofman will present songs in Armenian, Farsi, and Ladino, the dialect of Spanish Sephardic Jews. Additionally, ZaINDIveli is set to perform ambient music infused with Indian elements.

Beyond the musical performances, the festival will also offer master classes, a tour of the Sheremetyev Palace Museum of Music, and lectures. The full program details are available on the festival’s website.
