Rolls-Royce Driver Faces New Charges After Crashing Into Motorcyclist in St. Petersburg

Sergey Sosorev, the driver of a Rolls-Royce, appeared in court on June 4 in St. Petersburg to determine his pre-trial restrictions, facing new charges related to an incident on May 31. Police are seeking the maximum penalty in this case.

The head of information security at Kart-Blansh LLC is now charged with two articles of the criminal code. These charges include violation of traffic rules resulting in grievous bodily harm and intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm using the vehicle as a weapon.

The police investigation alleges that on the Peterhof highway, Sosorev made an illegal U-turn, failed to yield to a Harley-Davidson motorcycle, causing a collision. Following the collision, the Rolls-Royce driver allegedly ran over the motorcyclist with the intent to cause serious harm.

Initially, the Investigative Committee considered the act as attempted murder, but the prosecutor’s office did not support this classification, as the evidence did not confirm the intent to kill. Fontanka reported that the 37-year-old businessman had accumulated over 40 traffic violations in the past year.
