A St. Petersburg court has ruled on cases involving two graduates caught with cheat sheets during their exams. Elizaveta’s case was dismissed with a warning, while Daniil received a fine.
Daniil was fined 3,000 rubles for violating exam regulations. He was charged under Part 4 of Article 19.30 for possessing unauthorized materials during the foreign language exam.
Elizaveta stated that she inadvertently brought biology notes into the exam room, intending only to review them beforehand. She claimed she did not use the cheat sheet, and it fell out when she stood up.
The court accepted Elizaveta’s explanation and, considering her remorse and the circumstances, deemed the violation insignificant. The proceedings against her were terminated with an oral warning.
Daniil did not attend the court hearing. He stated in the report that the cheat sheets for the foreign language exam were insignificant and unused.
Previously, similar cases involving Unified State Exam (EGE) violations have been addressed in St. Petersburg. A 19-year-old student was caught with a mobile phone during the Russian language exam in the Vyborgsky district. Two teachers in the Primorsky district were also reported for allowing a graduate to have a phone. In those cases, the magistrates considered the offenses insignificant and issued oral warnings.
