Significant alterations to the MCD-2 train schedule are expected on the weekend of August 2nd and 3rd due to ongoing modernization work at the Kursky railway station. The Moscow Department of Transportation has announced that train intervals will be extended across the entire diameter, with some sections experiencing delays of up to 4.5 hours.
Specifically, the Kursk direction will see increased intervals, with trains running every 1.5 hours between Tsaritsyno and Kuryanovo, and every 4.5 hours between Kuryanovo and Kurskaya. Passengers traveling towards Nakhabino are advised to transfer to the metro at Tsaritsyno and proceed to Kurskaya to catch a connecting train.
Many trains originating from Podolsk will now terminate at Pokrovskoye, Tsaritsyno, and Kuryanovo stations. Certain trains will also bypass the section between Podolsk and Krasny stroitel without making any stops. Travelers should anticipate potential delays of up to 30 minutes between Tsaritsyno and Podolsk.
Passengers using stations between Kurskaya and Pechatniki are urged to exercise caution, as trains will be operating on a single track, and departure tracks may be subject to change.
On the Riga direction, train intervals will be increased by up to 40 minutes. The majority of trains departing from Nakhabino will only travel as far as Krasny Baltiets and Kurskaya stations.
The Moscow Department of Transportation explained that the schedule adjustments are necessary to facilitate the modernization of the track infrastructure. The Kurskaya station of MCD-2 and MCD-4 is being upgraded to meet the standards of the “Moscow City Station”. Authorities have stated they are trying to keep transfers to the metro. It was also noted that train schedule changes occured during the last weekend of July.
