A mother in Kirishi is under investigation after abandoning her infant daughter in a courtyard late at night. The Investigative Committee released footage showing the woman leaving the child in a stroller.

The incident occurred when the woman wheeled a stroller with the child into an archway and then walked away. The woman appeared to be unsteady and walking with a drunken gait.

Fortunately, the abandoned baby was quickly discovered. The girl was immediately sent to a hospital, and her health is not in danger.

The mother contacted the police at 8 am, reporting her daughter missing after waking up and not finding her in their apartment. A criminal case has been initiated against the woman for abandoning a minor in a dangerous situation. She is currently under recognizance.

Authorities are planning to place the child under guardianship. Investigators are currently looking into the circumstances that led the woman to abandon her daughter. An assessment will also be conducted on the relevant neglect prevention agencies, including the Kirishi police, to determine if there were any failures in the system.
