A well-known Moscow blogger, Marina Trubitsyna, known online as Maripulya, has publicly claimed she was denied entry to the Ogonek bar in Yekaterinburg due to her age. Trubitsyna posted a video on social media expressing her outrage after she and her friends were turned away at the door.
The incident occurred when Trubitsyna and her companions attempted to enter the Ogonek bar. According to Trubitsyna, the group was denied entry because they were deemed “too old.” She emphasized that everyone in her party was sober and well-behaved, with ages ranging from 34 to 40. Trubitsyna sarcastically commented that people their age typically go to bed early and wake up early for activities like Pilates.
The Ogonek bar has responded to Trubitsyna’s accusations, stating that age was not a factor in the decision. The bar claims that it was at full capacity on the night in question and that they were forced to restrict entry to ensure the safety and comfort of all patrons.
Trubitsyna, originally from Novosibirsk but identifying as a Moscow resident in the video, blogs about motherhood, family, and travel. She also mentioned that her group was denied entry to a second, unnamed establishment in Yekaterinburg.
The incident follows a previous report of two women from Tuva who were allegedly denied entry to a bar in Yekaterinburg due to their Asian appearance. The bar later apologized for that incident, calling it a shock to both the women and the establishment.
