St. Petersburg Declares “Orange” Alert Due to Abnormally Hot Weather

St. Petersburg has issued an “orange” level weather alert due to expected abnormally high temperatures, indicating potentially dangerous weather conditions that could lead to natural disasters.

The “orange” alert, announced by the Smolny press service, is in effect due to forecasts from the Roshydromet Center. Today, July 30, the city anticipates temperatures reaching 30-32 degrees Celsius (86-90 degrees Fahrenheit) between 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM.

Tomorrow, July 31, the high heat is expected to continue, with temperatures predicted to reach 30-31 degrees Celsius (86-88 degrees Fahrenheit) from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms in some areas of the city between 10:00 AM and 7:00 PM on July 31.

City officials are advising residents to take precautions during this period of high solar activity. They recommend staying indoors during peak sunlight hours, wearing hats and light-colored, natural fabrics, and staying hydrated.

Last night was recorded as the warmest night since the beginning of the year. There is also a chance of rain in St. Petersburg later today.
