A couple in Yekaterinburg, Russia, who received the keys to their apartment in the “Depo” residential complex in September 2024, are still unable to move in due to ongoing issues with the property. The apartment has been plagued by leaks from the terrace above, causing water damage in multiple rooms and affecting neighbors down to the third floor.
Despite having an IT mortgage for the 8.3 million ruble apartment and paying significant monthly payments, the couple continues to live with the wife’s parents. The ongoing problems have persisted since they first identified deficiencies during the initial apartment inspection nearly a year ago.
The issues initially included mold, faulty windows, holes into the elevator shaft, and peeling plaster. While the windows have been replaced, the flooding problem has become the primary concern. The family reports that the apartment has been flooded since May, with water seeping down through multiple floors.
According to Irina, the humidity level in the apartment reaches 87%. The couple has sent a pre-trial claim to the builder and managing company.
“Brusnika,” the company behind the “Depo” residential complex, has acknowledged the problem. They have stated that they are in contact with the owners of the apartment on the 14th floor, which is the source of the leak. “Brusnika” has promised to conduct work to strengthen the waterproofing in the apartment on the 15th floor by the end of the week and compensate the owners of the affected apartments for the damage.
“Brusnika” has been operating in Yekaterinburg since September 30, 2011, and has offices in other regions, including Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug-Yugra, the Moscow region, Kurgan, Tyumen, Omsk, Novosibirsk, and Moscow. The company has seven projects in Yekaterinburg, including one in the Academichesky district.
This is not the first issue reported at the “Depo” residential complex. Previously, residents complained about a flood in March that affected the basement and storage rooms, and in May, two workers were injured at the construction site.
