Woman Claims Burns from Laser Hair Removal, Seeks Compensation

Kristina B. is seeking compensation from a Novosibirsk beauty salon after allegedly suffering burns during a laser hair removal procedure. She claims the salon technician’s negligence caused the injuries, while the salon suggests Kristina may have exacerbated the condition.

Kristina alleges that on April 20, 2025, during a laser hair removal session at ProfLaser, she experienced severe pain and subsequently developed blisters on her legs. She contends that the salon failed to perform a test strip and ignored her requests to reduce the laser’s power. Despite the pain, she paid for the service, but the burns worsened, leading her to seek medical attention and demand compensation.

The salon acknowledged the technician’s fault, leading to their termination, but suggests Kristina may have worsened her skin condition and requested increased power during the procedure. They also claim that pre-existing scars and potential tanning could have contributed to the issue. The salon offered 30,000 rubles in compensation, but Kristina is seeking 300,000 rubles to cover medical expenses, lost income, and moral damages.

A dermatologist reportedly warned Kristina that the burns might leave permanent scars despite treatment. The salon provided initial remedies and scheduled a doctor’s appointment, but disputes arose regarding the timing of the appointment and the medications purchased. The owner of ProfLaser has suggested that Kristina may have altered photos of the burns and characterized her actions as “naked consumer terrorism.”

A forensic medical examination was inconclusive about the timing of the injuries, but did not rule out the possibility that they occurred during the laser hair removal procedure. Kristina has filed complaints with the Investigative Committee and the prosecutor’s office. The Prosecutor’s Office of the Novosibirsk Region reported that they have not received such appeals.
