Ekaterina Kolpakova, a 37-year-old IT specialist, has become the Russian motorcycle racing champion in 2024, despite facing numerous challenges and injuries throughout her career. She continues to participate in races with the hope of winning the Russian Championship again.
Kolpakova’s passion for motorcycles ignited at the young age of three, when her grandfather introduced her to the thrill of riding. Even as a student earning a modest income, she prioritized saving up for her first motorcycle, a dream that cost her a significant amount at the time.
Initially, Kolpakova did not envision herself as a competitive motorcycle racer. She began training on her city motorcycle alongside amateur motorcyclists, undeterred by the fact that her equipment was not specifically designed for racing.
Her journey to success has not been without obstacles. Kolpakova has endured multiple injuries, including a fractured spine, several broken ribs, and displacement of the cervical vertebrae.
After sharing a video about winning the Russian Championship on social media, which garnered substantial views, Kolpakova encountered online criticism and negativity. Detractors questioned her abilities and suggested she focus on more traditionally “feminine” pursuits.
