Law enforcement in St. Petersburg has shut down five brothels and detained twelve suspected organizers. The operation, which took place on May 30, targeted establishments allegedly operating since 2022.
The brothels were located on Komendantsky Prospekt, Kollontai Street, Bolshevikov Prospekt, Kropotkin Street, and the 11th Line of Vasilievsky Island. Authorities detained a total of twelve individuals, including alleged administrators, drivers, a “collector,” and other employees.
In addition to the organizers, fifteen women suspected of providing intimate services were taken into custody. These women face administrative charges related to engaging in prostitution, with ages ranging from 22 to 46. One woman reportedly attempted to escape through a window upon the arrival of law enforcement.
The brothels generated a monthly income of approximately two million rubles. Half of this amount was used to cover rent, household expenses, and staff salaries. The remaining profit was allegedly divided among the organizers.
During the operation, police seized money, telephones, price lists, accounting records, and employee work schedules. A criminal case has been initiated under the article pertaining to the organization of prostitution.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region.
