Police in the Krasnodar Territory are investigating the vandalism of the film set fortress “The Storm Gate,” a popular tourist attraction located 20 km from Gelendzhik in the Caucasus Mountains. The structure, built for the 2006 war drama of the same name, was found with extensive damage including destroyed walls and roofs, along with obscene drawings.
Social media reports initially highlighted the damage on July 29th, prompting a response from authorities. The Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Krasnodar Territory confirmed that the incident has been officially registered.
The fortress has been a long-standing attraction since the filming of “The Storm Gate,” a multi-part film directed by Andrei Malyukov based on Alexander Tamonikov’s novel “A Company Goes to Heaven,” which depicts the defense in Chechnya and starred Anatoly Pashinin, Andrei Krasko, Mikhail Porechenkov, and Daniil Strakhov.
Despite its popularity, no formal reports of the destruction were initially filed with the police. Law enforcement is now working to determine the extent of the damage and identify those responsible for the vandalism.
