A woman in the Lomonosovsky District of the Leningrad Region has been detained on suspicion of assisting in the illegal legalization of migrants. The arrest was made by criminal investigation officers from the OMVD for the Lomonosovsky District, in collaboration with the National Guard.
The suspect is accused of facilitating a scheme where foreigners could obtain employment at construction sites without proper registration. According to the investigation, beginning in December of the previous year, the woman allegedly sought out individuals seeking construction jobs who lacked the necessary registration documents.
For a fee of 7,500 rubles per person, the suspect allegedly arranged for the migrants to be registered at the apartments of local residents, although the registration was only on paper. Additionally, the investigation indicates that the suspect helped the migrants obtain certificates proving proficiency in the Russian language, knowledge of Russian history, and understanding of Russian law, circumventing the standard legal procedures.
During a raid on the suspect’s residence, law enforcement officers found evidence suggesting she had been warned about an impending police check at a construction site in Kudrovo. The suspect is currently under a non-departure agreement. Authorities are working to identify other individuals involved in the scheme.
In a related development, 62 foreigners were found to be in violation of migration laws and face administrative charges. These individuals are potentially subject to expulsion from the Russian Federation.
