Sergey Sosorev, the driver of a Rolls-Royce involved in a collision with a motorcyclist on Peterhof Highway, has been detained after refusing to testify. He invoked Article 51 of the Russian Constitution during his appearance at the Main Investigation Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region on June 3.
Preliminary information indicates that the 37-year-old businessman was driving a Rolls-Royce with distinctive license plates when he allegedly made an illegal U-turn across a double solid line, colliding with a motorcyclist traveling in the same direction.
Witnesses have reported that efforts were made to conceal the license plates of the Rolls-Royce following the incident.
Authorities have initiated a criminal case under Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, addressing violations of traffic regulations that result in significant harm to human health due to negligence. The Investigative Committee is also examining the possibility of classifying the incident as attempted murder.
The motorcyclist involved in the collision is reportedly in stable condition.
