A criminal case has been initiated by the Investigative Committee for the Admiralteysky District of St. Petersburg following a fire that resulted in the death of two individuals. The case is being investigated under the article addressing causing death by negligence to two or more persons.

The fire broke out at approximately 1:30 PM in a house located on the Obvodny Canal embankment, specifically at number 183. The blaze originated within a three-room apartment, encompassing an area of 45 square meters, and subsequently spread to scaffolding positioned on the building’s facade. Firefighters successfully extinguished the fire by 4:55 PM.

During a search of the fire-ravaged apartment, the remains of two individuals were discovered. Due to the severity of the burns, the identities of the deceased will need to be determined through forensic examination.

Neighbors reported that the apartment’s residents were known to have issues with alcohol. Despite the tragic loss of life, firefighters were able to rescue a cat from the burning apartment.
