Three beaches on the Gulf of Finland in St. Petersburg will be closed for improvement until August 1. The beaches affected are Komarovsky, Dubkovsky, and Detsky (Children’s) in Ushkovo.
The public is warned that the beaches will be inaccessible during this period. Construction work will be underway, and the areas will be fenced off, posing potential hazards. Authorities urge visitors to exercise caution if they choose to visit despite the closure.
According to Alexey Fisyak, director of the “Kurortny Bereg” budgetary institution for improvement, the closure will be in effect from June 1 to August 1. The beaches are undergoing modernization projects with significant investment allocated for upgrades.
Prior to the closure, the beaches underwent standard pre-season preparations, including the removal of foreign objects, cleaning, and depth measurements in the nearshore waters. The public is invited to attend the reopening of the improved beaches on August 1.
The renovation projects include the installation of new facilities and amenities. Planned improvements include new toilets, changing rooms, sun loungers, children’s and sports grounds, and seal sculptures. The Dubkovsky beach is slated for a 100 million ruble modernization, Detsky for 58 million rubles, and Komarovsky for 54 million rubles.
