A 49-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan has been detained in St. Petersburg on suspicion of committing violent sexual acts against a 15-year-old girl. The suspect was apprehended by operatives from the “juvenile” department of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in collaboration with colleagues from the Vyborgsky district.

The incident reportedly occurred on the last evening of spring when the man allegedly led the girl away from a playground on Kustodieva Street. He then lured her to Shostakovich Street, where he allegedly undressed and kissed her.

The schoolgirl returned on her own the following morning to the location where she was initially separated from.

Law enforcement identified the suspect through CCTV footage. He is allegedly illegally residing in Russia and does not have a permanent residence.

The suspect was found by operatives in a construction trailer in Bugry.

A criminal case has been opened by the district department of the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee for St. Petersburg. The suspect is currently in custody.
