A criminal case has been initiated following an accident in St. Petersburg’s Krasnoselsky district where a Rolls-Royce driver struck and ran over a motorcyclist. The incident occurred on May 31st at 4:59 PM at the intersection of Pogranichnika Gar’kavogo Street and Peterhof Highway.

The 37-year-old Rolls-Royce driver allegedly made an illegal U-turn, colliding with a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. The SUV then ran over the 35-year-old motorcyclist.

The motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries. A medical examination determined that the injuries constituted severe harm.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the city of St. Petersburg has opened a criminal case against the Rolls-Royce driver under Part 1 of Article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This article addresses violations of traffic rules and vehicle operation.

Authorities are currently deciding on a preventive measure for the suspect. The police investigation is ongoing.
