An unexploded bomb planted on a railway in the Bryansk region on June 1st contained American-made C-4 plastic explosives. This discovery was made during an examination of the device following a series of incidents on Moscow Railway facilities.
Investigators believe the other explosives used in recent acts of sabotage were assembled using similar materials. Authorities suspect multiple groups of militants may have been operating in the region simultaneously.
Last weekend, a total of three explosions targeted Moscow Railway facilities. These incidents are being investigated as terrorist acts and illegal trafficking of explosives committed by a group of individuals.
On the night of June 1st, a road bridge collapsed in the Bryansk region as a passenger train traveled underneath on the Klimov – Moscow route. The debris caused the train carriages to derail, resulting in seven fatalities, including the driver and two children, and injuries to nearly one hundred people.
The governor of the Bryansk region, Alexander Bogomaz, stated that the bridge was blown up while the train was moving. He announced that the families of the deceased would receive 1.5 million rubles each, while the injured would receive 300,000 or 600,000 rubles depending on the severity of their injuries. Train traffic has been restored in the Bryansk region following the incident.
