An investigation has concluded that a factory explosion in Novosibirsk injured a worker due to building conditions and flammable substances. The State Labor Inspectorate investigated the incident at a beer and soda factory in the Dzerzhinsky district.
The incident occurred on February 10 when a fermentation tank exploded in a workshop, causing the roof and walls to collapse from the blast wave. An assistant brewer was injured when a piece of the roof fell on his head during the collapse.
The investigation revealed that the factory management did not report the accident to the State Labor Inspectorate, prompting an inspection.
The primary causes of the accident were determined to be the unsatisfactory condition of the buildings and structures, and the use of flammable substances in beer production that created an explosion upon ignition.
Authorities issued an order for the factory management to create an accident investigation report, but it was not completed. Consequently, a protocol was drawn up for failure to comply with a legal order, and the case materials were sent to court.
The NGS editors requested an official comment from the company regarding the situation.
In a separate incident in Novosibirsk, a worker died after falling from the 21st floor of a building under construction.
