Passengers Suffer Chemical Burns on St. Petersburg Bus Seats

Two passengers in St. Petersburg sought medical attention after sustaining chemical burns from sitting on wet seats on bus route No. 85. The incident occurred this afternoon, prompting an investigation.

Around 4:30 PM, emergency services received two separate calls from women reporting burning sensations after coming into contact with a liquid substance on the bus seats. Both women were hospitalized due to the severity of their injuries.

The first victim, who was riding bus No. 85, was transported to a hospital from the intersection of Vyborgskoye Highway and Lunacharsky Avenue. She was diagnosed with chemical burns to her buttocks, the back of her thighs, and her palms.

The second woman, also a passenger on bus No. 85, was similarly hospitalized. Doctors found that she had burns to both buttocks.

Reportedly, the skin of one of the victims turned black after exposure to the liquid on the seat.

A similar incident occurred in January of this year when two women in St. Petersburg suffered chemical burns to their buttocks while riding buses No. 130. “Passazhiravtotrans” stated that previous passengers had spilled household chemicals on the seats but failed to report the spill. Following that incident, police initiated an investigation, and Alexander Bastrykin, head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, ordered the Investigative Committee to conduct its own investigation.
