The Leningrad region has finalized new restrictions on alcohol sales, set to take effect on September 1. Governor Alexander Drozdenko signed the law, which extends the prohibition period.
Alcohol sales will now be prohibited from 10 p.m. to 11 a.m. This expands the previous restriction, which prohibited sales until 9 a.m.
The Legislative Assembly adopted the initiative on May 28 in three readings. According to Deputy Chairman of Economic Development Lina Nikiforova, the goal is to align the region’s rules with those of St. Petersburg. This measure aims to prevent residents from traveling to the Leningrad region to purchase alcohol during prohibited hours in St. Petersburg.
