An estimated 50-100 kilograms of fuel oil leaked into the water following an oil spill in the port of St. Petersburg.

The incident occurred during the refueling of a fishing vessel at approximately 2 a.m.

Port workers reported the spill early in the morning of June 1, prompting a response from transport police officers.

The Transport Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the Northwest confirmed the leak, stating that preliminary information suggests the spillage amounted to roughly 50-100 kilograms of petroleum products.

Authorities have since taken action to eliminate all consequences of the spill.

An investigation is currently underway to clarify the circumstances surrounding the incident.
