Dmitry Volozhanin, a camp counselor, has been sentenced to 15 years in a strict regime penal colony for child molestation at the “Sokoliny Kamen” sanatorium. The Sverdlovsk Regional Court finalized the high-profile case, finding Volozhanin guilty of crimes against the sexual integrity of minors.
The investigation revealed that in the fall of 2023, Volozhanin created a system of “incentives” for boys at the sanatorium. These incentives involved granting privileges like snacks, sweets, and smartphone use outside of permitted times, in exchange for the boys performing physical exercises in their underwear or without clothing, alone at night.
Three boys, aged 11-13 years, were identified as victims of the counselor’s actions. Volozhanin partially admitted his guilt during the proceedings.
In addition to the 15-year prison sentence, the court has prohibited Volozhanin from working in any capacity related to the upbringing of minors for a period of 10 years. Initially, Volozhanin denied any wrongdoing and claimed to not understand the accusations against him.
